IL MAESTRO

Francesco Cortesi was born in Poschiavo (Switzerland) in 1988.
he opportunity to delve into the world of restoration at the workshop of the antique dealer and restorer Perrucci. This experience allowed him to develop a keen stylistic sensitivity and, above all, a mature approach to restoration, learning the principles of philology and conservation in his work.
He then studied violin making at the Bottega di Parma, under the guidance of master Desiderio Quercetani, graduating in 2013 with top marks. The program included 1200 hours of practical lessons in the workshop and the independent construction of at least two violins and a cello.
Subsequently, his professional activities moved to Valposchiavo, Switzerland, a location very close to Italy. Here, he opened his own small workshop, surrounded by nature and the imposing beauty of the mountains.
He now works in Poschiavo (Switzerland) as well as in Cremona, Italy. In addition to his work as a luthier, he teaches his art at the Academia Cremonensis in Cremona.
