Liuteria Cortesi provides the necessary maintenance for stringed instruments: cleaning, replacing the bridge or pegs, adjusting the core and calibrating the fingerboard are some of the jobs that are carried out.
The quality of this work affects the acoustic performance of the entire instrument and the comfort of the player. it is therefore important to be able to assess the best solution in each individual case. Only with the utmost care and attention can we achieve the result you need.
THE FITTING
The mount should not only be beautiful, but also ergonomic and comfortable for the player.
We offer accessories of the highest quality and the possibility of having a custom-made frame, building custom-made pegs, tailpiece and chin rest.
The chin rest based on a cast taken directly from the violinist's / violist's chin.
THE BRIDGE
The bridge is very important for the acoustic purposes of the instrument, but also for the comfort of the player. There are many variables within it that influence these two aspects. For example, even if one relies on standard references for string heights, these must adapt to the style and needs of the individual musician.
The same goes for the instrument, the bridge must adapt to the curvatures and measurements of each individual instrument, so if the measurements are different from the standard, the bridge can be built entirely by the luthier. Otherwise, partially pre-cut jumpers can be adapted and used.
BOW REHAIRING
Finishing a bow is an operation that must be carried out periodically.
It is a relatively simple operation, but the utmost delicacy is required and care must always be taken when replacing the horsehair on a bow.
It is important to use high quality horsehair to ensure a good result.
