RESTORATION
Various repair and restoration work on stringed instruments is carried out in our workshop with passion and professionalism, and some work is also carried out on bows.
String instruments are by nature fragile and delicate, and I personally find that this characteristic adds to their charm.
All it takes is time, an error in storage, a distraction or an accident to compromise the integrity of an instrument. the sound can alter or die out completely. Sometimes the instrument may seem unrecoverable.
The very value of the instrument is compromised if it is not carefully and expertly restored.

THE APPROACH
It takes calm and patience, a sense of responsibility and a certain sensitivity to tackle the most delicate restorations, not just the right tools and materials.
In our workshop we pay special attention to the in-depth study of restoration techniques. This means studying specific and tailor-made solutions for each intervention, taking into account technological advances that broaden the range of possible solutions.
We always try to intervene in a conservative manner, giving great value to each original part of the instrument. We pay great attention to the varnish and patina accumulated over time, which embellish and characterise the instrument by simply telling its story.
STRUCTURAL RESTORATION
The most common restorations often involve restoring the soundboard: we carry out small or full-length core pieces, closing and reinforcing cracks and fissures.
On the rest of the instrument, various restorations can be carried out, such as doubling the edges or the nut, restorations on the peg box, grafts, etc.
Every single repair is discussed with the customer, justified and carried out with care and expertise.

VARNISH RESTORATION
An extremely delicate restoration is that of paintwork.
Every intervention must be carefully considered, from small retouches to the antiquing of integrated parts following restoration.
The colour is of course checked, but also the underlying reflections, the consistency and the reflections of the varnish.
Patina and finish are the details that bring the majority of interventions on antique instruments to final success.
RESTORATION OF BOWS
We also carry out delicate restoration work on the sticks of bows, after careful evaluation together with the customer.
Consideration is given to maintaining the flexibility of the entire stick, even where gluing or supplementing of compromised wood is necessary.
Considering the delicacy of a bow in the face of the high tensions to which it is subjected and the difficulties in gluing the pernambuco.
These results are achieved thanks to state-of-the-art products and techniques, some of which were developed directly in our workshop.
